What October Will Bring

This last month of September was not really what we might call easy. The planetary energies were a mixture of challenges. So, let’s examine this closer to understand what this means and how it affects everyone.

I will start with Mercury which had just come out of its retrograde on the 22nd while the Moon was in the sign of Gemini. ** Gemini is a sign that is ruled by the planet Mercury. Mercury is the planet of communication in all forms, he is the fleet footed messenger and actually moves about 2 degrees in a day. Mercury also governs commuting i.e. travel. We have all been going thru a shift, and when Mercury goes retrograde in its own home/sign it is more intense as the energies are enhanced.

I also need to mention that the planet Pluto which is all about transformation death and rebirth also added its powerful tremendous energies as well by being in aspect to the Moon. Emotionally and mentally it was difficult, especially that last week in Sept. It isn’t easy when we don’t have the control over our lives in exactly the way that we want it.

To add to these energies we also had a New Moon in the sign of Libra on the 29th. This New Moon in the sign of Libra represents a new energy; it is an anchor point, a reset button if you will…it offers us a chance to expand our dreams and to be inspired by what is possible. Libra introduces us to the balance between ourselves and the other – in all its forms. Intimate relationships, marriage partners, and business partners, basically, any relationship that affects us on a personal level. This was a time for us to acknowledge our intentions and actions, and sets up our focus for the next few weeks.

** Pay attention to what comes into your life during this New Moon as it will be a major influence in the weeks to come as its energy is what is taking us into October.

So…as we move into the month of October, The New Moon in Libra on October 1st was conjunct Jupiter. Inspiring us to move into a more aware state of what is balanced, and what needs to be brought into balance in our own personal lives.

** One of the themes of October is the time to emotionally look to where we can develop our relationships and how we can introduce more harmony into our lives. How do we connect in a more balanced way? The hopeful potential for growth and more balance (with our self and others), this potential only exists when we are civil, and diplomatic, and fair minded. *** These are things we need to remember as we move into the month of October. Especially important as The Sun will be changing signs mid-month into Scorpio.

Let’s now look at Venus the planet that rules Libra which has now moved out of its own natural sign and into the sign of Scorpio. Venus has a harder time in Scorpio however; Venus in Scorpio can be very powerful. It’s that time of year when something goes away so that something else can be born. Scorpio is passionate, and emotional Venus will be in that sign of Scorpio until October 18th when she then moves on into Sagittarius.

Meanwhile, back to the planet Mercury, which is now picking up speed moving pretty quickly after its retrograde back in Sept. Mercury now moves into the sign of Libra on October 7th and will stay there for a short 2 weeks until Oct 24th and then will move into the sign of Scorpio. This month brings the combinations of optimistic Jupiter in Libra by helping to creating opportunities for better balance, as well as having this energy of delving into the deeper darker meaning of the emotions of Venus and Lilith ( the dark moon) both being in Scorpio. Jupiter which is energetic and optimistic inspires us to think about how can we better negotiate, and what is fair? And Mercury also heading towards the sign of Scorpio has the potential of great communication thru transformational power. Scorpio is powerful; it goes deep within, down into the depths.

Now let’s add in the planet Mars which entered the sign of Capricorn on September 27th. Mars loves Capricorn; because it’s exalted there. Capricorn’s goal is hard work, orientation, ambition, and it’s straight-shooting executive ability give Mars a clear channel to work its strong action oriented energies with. Mars in Capricorn has stamina and says I am getting to where I am going. Just be aware of what you are taking on. We might commit to things we regret later on in the month and they may take more work to follow through to manifest then what we originally thought they would.

On Oct 5th Mars moves into a square with Jupiter and soon Jupiter and Pluto will be squared also. Mars and Jupiter can work well together as we can utilize that “to-do” energy of Mars in an expansive way (Jupiter) under this influence. If you have a big project coming up, use this energy to your advantage. However, the square does mean that sometimes we can take on too much or over-kill. It’s difficult to know our limits and the rush of enthusiasm from these two that both say “I can do all of this now”! Be aware of the work/life balance to prevent burnout. The Moon’s square to Pluto and Mars is frustrating. We want control, and to “do it my way” but the Libra emphasis advocates compromise. Thankfully, a sweet sextile to Saturn may help us to go for the mature approach. Saturn is a stabilizer Saturn brings in maturity, foundation, rules and karma.

We will have a Full Moon in Aries 23 degrees on October 16th Along with the Full Moon we have Mercury squaring Mars and Pluto. Whoa! Communication will be highlighted watch what you say and how you respond! Not a nice aspect. This Full Moon will also be lined up with Uranus which is in the sign of Aries opposition the Sun. Double Whoa !! This has the potential of raising the intensity of emotions. Uranus will spark things; it is like lightening how and where will this strike? How do we navigate this better? This full moon brings a lot of emotional energy since Aries is a fire sign, and we can focus on bringing an end to some things that we’ve needed to finish up, get rid of, or see through to the end. People will need some space . Try not to get involved with controlling others as things are very unpredictable with the Uranus energies. Emotions (Moon) will be running hot (Mars) and they will probably be erratic (Uranus). This will be one of the most difficult full moons of the year.

On the 19th we have Mars in conjunction to Pluto. All joking aside these two are not to be messed with. The dark side of this is that Mars and Pluto together can be somewhat of a warmongering aspect. Anger can quickly tip into rage so if someone presses your buttons around this time back off if at all possible, especially if it feels like things are spiraling out of control. There is a danger of going to extremes, which can be compounded with Jupiter which literally magnifying the energies. Jupiter is now also in orb of a square to Pluto and Mars and they are also square to the unpredictable planet Uranus. On the positive side there is intense desire, passionate ambitions, powerful energy and it is also possible to eliminate what hasn’t been working for you and move forward without even looking back.

Mercury joins the Sun in Scorpio on October 24th. This is an excellent time for all kinds of research. However the tendency towards suspicious minds can be increased. We need to speak our truth keeping in mind the goal of bringing in the opportunity to connect more deeply with others. Be aware of your words and how you speak them!

The second New Moon of the month falls in Scorpio on October 30th With Mars and Pluto still close enough to be conjunct and Venus conjunct Saturn, the atmosphere feels a bit heavy. With the New Moon in Scorpio trine to soulful Neptune, this is a time to remember those who have passed. The gateway between the world of the living and the world of the dead is thinnest now and it is a time to remember those who have passed on before us. The New Moon in Scorpio is all about death and rebirth.
